Friday, February 17 will be an at home learning day
Dear families,
Next Friday, February 17, is an at-home learning day for our students while teachers attend required professional development sessions. On this day, all students in the district will learn at home. Teachers will provide learning tasks and materials to students in advance.
Please note that we will not be serving school meals to students on Friday, February 17. Additionally, the federal waivers, which previously allowed students the ability to eat school meals at home, have expired, which means we are unable to provide grab-and-go meals like we’ve been able to provide in the past.
Families will be able to access the community pantries at the three district community learning centers, which are open from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. The pantries are made possible through the Salt Lake Education Foundation and its supporters, which have stocked these pantries in the effort to address student food insecurity.
Community Pantry Locations:
Glendale Community Learning Center
1388 South Navajo Street
Salt Lake City, UT 84104
Liberty Elementary Community Learning Center
1078 South 300 East

School safety is a topic we wish we didn’t have to address, but it has become more crucial than ever for our schools and our students to be prepared for any emergency. Please know that the responsibility to keep your students safe while they are in our care is our highest priority.
The best way to be prepared for any emergency is prevention. To that end, the Salt Lake City School District (SLCSD) has implemented changes to boost our school safety efforts. Mary W. Jackson Elementary is equipped with doorbells and video cameras. These systems limit public access. Parents and guardians are always welcome and like all visitors, must be buzzed in at the school’s entrance. For more information, please see the district’s School Safety page here.
-----
Faculty, Staff, and Administration at Mary W. Jackson make safety a priority! Please be on the look out for our new bright vests that help identify school personnel on campus before and after school.
Parents and Guardians,
If you are interested in Holiday assistance this year, such as clothing, food, or toys, please come to the front office to fill out the required forms. It will be FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. There is no guarantee you will receive assistance, but we will do our best to get you the help you need. Come as soon as possible, since again, it is first come first serve.
Thank you!
Padres y tutores,
Gracias!
